 Chalakudy Shri N S NARAYANASWAMY

 (Born 18 September 1925), Indian Carnatic Classical Musician, a VIOLINIST, & VOCALIST,.Born in Chalakudy Kerala, Shri Chalakudy N. S. Narayanaswamy learnt Carnatic Vocal Music and Violin  initially from his uncle Shri N. K. Akhileswara Bhagavathar. He was later a student of Shri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer.

A Violinist on the staff of Akashvani, Trivandrum, from its foundation up to 1956, Shri Narayanaswamy was professor of Violin and Principal of Shri Swathi Thirumal College of Music, Trivandrum, from 1956 till retirement in 1981.  He has performed widely over the years, accompanying many of the greatest of Carnatic vocalists: his mentor Shri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, Shri Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer, Shri Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, Shri M.D. Rama- nathan.

He has also given solo recitals all over the country. Shri Narayanaswamy has been a member of the Board of Studies of Kerala, Calicut and Mysore Universities.

Among other honours, he received an award from the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi in 1977. Shri Chalakudy NS Narayanaswamy received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution to Carnatic instrumental Music .
